On the 21st of June conference on “Early diagnosis of renal toxicity” was held at the Heart Institute.
For the first time in Ukraine new methods for early diagnosis of renal disease on the basis of the Heart Institute were presented. This will allow for control of the state of the kidneys for successful heart surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.

More than 120 cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, doctors of functional diagnostics attended scientific and practical conference – “Actual problems of cardiology and cardiac surgery,” which was held by the “Heart Institute” of Ministry of health of Ukraine and the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education on the 2d of June.
The purpose of this traditional event was to summarize the main results of researches conducted by the Institute and acting on its base the academic chairs during the academic year.

May 13th, 2016

Heart Institute, together with Kalangos Fund, made joint effort in field of humanitarian cardiac surgery. They built up a at the Heart Institute specialized humanitarian center in order to provide here, in Ukraine, specialized cardiac surgical care to children from developing countries. Kalangos Fund will provide full financial support, and Heart Institute with its staff and infrastructure ensure all the necessary medical service. It is scheduled to treat 8 to 12 cardiac surgical patients monthly.

On March, 21-25, 2016 under the Ukrainian project “UMSA Internship” (traineeship, organized by the Ukrainian medical students association) the best medical students and interns from Kiev, Vinnitsa and Odessa were the first who had training at Heart Institute.

The IVth Scientific and practical conference “Functional diagnostics of cardiovascular disease” was held by National medical academy for postgraduate education in name of P.L. Shupyk and Heart Institute by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

It was the first arterial switch operation for great vessels transposition in Moldova. We thank our Moldovan colleagues for their trust to Heart Institute doctors.

February, 10-11, 2016

Four students from the Warsaw medical university had onsite training at Kiev Heart Institute.
The guests from Poland got the possibility to visit procedures of coronary artery bypass, mitral and aortic valves plasty, pulmonary artery thrombectomy, familiarized with the special aspects of anesthesia and intensive care for cardiac surgical patients, visited the MRI department.
The students got bright impressions and practical knowledge, they expressed many thanks for friendly reception in the Institute and in Ukraine in general

Aan International symposium «Actual issues of pediatric cardiac surgery» was held in the State Institution “Heart Institute by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine”. Prof.Kalangos, the Chairman of the Department of Cardio-Vascular Surgery at University Hospital of Geneva and Prof. A. Petropoulos, chief pediatric cardiologist at the Merkezi clinic (Baku) participated in the Symposium.

New Year is a most welcome holiday for all children, as the greatest wishes have to become true this special day. A charity found «The heart in hand», which is founded by the Heart Institute employees with a mission is to help children with congenital heart disease from poor families, together with «Blagodom» company took with pleasure a charity initiative of organizing a New Year celebration for little patients of the pediatric department.
