Department of endovascular surgery and angiography

Endovascular surgery is a set of minimally invasive procedures aimed at treating the cardiovascular system without incisions. This makes the method of treatment as safe as possible for the patient, increasing the requirements for technique and skill of the doctor.

The Heart Institute employs specialists with world-class special education who have completed internships in clinics in Europe and the United States. Surgeon Andriy Khokhlov, Head of the Department of Angiography and Endovascular Surgery, received an international certificate-permission to perform independent interventions in inoperable or operable patients with an extremely high risk of aortic stenosis. Today, cardiac surgeon Andriy Khokhlov is the only doctor in Ukraine who has received such a certificate.

This allows us to offer a full range of endovascular surgery using state-of-the-art equipment. The department is equipped with modern 4 angiographic systems, which allow to conduct all without exception angiographic examinations and interventions according to international standards.

For the first time in Ukraine at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the clinic specialists implanted a balloon of an aortic valve expansion prosthesis with severe aortic stenosis.

Diagnostic techniques
  • Selective angiography of coronary arteries (coronary angiography)
  • Selective angiography of the carotid and vertebral arteries
  • Selective and non-selective angiography of the renal arteries
  • Selective angiography of the arteries of the upper and lower extremities
  • Selective angiography of the pulmonary artery (angiopulmonography)
  • Selective angiography of the arteries of the abdominal cavity
  • Selective angiography of the superior and inferior vena cava (cavagraphy)
  • Selective angiography of the veins of the upper and lower extremities
  • Diagnostic probing of heart cavities and large vessels in congenital and acquired heart defects
