The aortic valve replacement was performed to a patient with an advanced aortic heart defect, pronounced aortic stenosis, in Sumy on Vysyvanka Day.

The recipient was a 49-year-old man from the Kyiv region with a frightening diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy. We thank the entire team of the Heart Institute and colleagues from the Poltava Regional Clinical Hospital named after M. Sklifosovsky.

On this challenging night,  two heart transplants were performed simultaneously by two teams of the Heart Institute. Despite the nightly air-raid alarm and shelling, the doctors did everything possible to save the patients.

They shared their experience of rescue and treatment during wartime, discussed the challenges that the morning of February 24, 2022 brought to each of them and, despite everything, they made plans for the Victory and a healthy future.
