British-Ukrainian Symposium “Anesthesiology and Intensive Care – Present and Prospects of Development”

On May 19-21, 2023, the British-Ukrainian Symposium (BUS 15) “Anesthesiology and Intensive Care – Present and Prospects for Development” was held in a hybrid format, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Anatoly Trishchynsky, an outstanding Ukrainian scientist and anesthesiologist.

The geography of the participants is impressive. The Symposium was attended by many leading foreign speakers from Great Britain, the USA, Germany, Austria, Israel, Poland, Italy, and Ukraine.
One of the organizers of this grand event is Professor Oleg Loskutov, Head of the Department of Anesthesiology of the Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine, an anesthesiologist at the Heart Institute.

Our doctors also gave speeches and presented educational workshops.

Head of the Department of Myocardial Pathology and Transplantation of Organs and Tissues, Gavrylo Kovtun, together with Prof. Oleg Loskutov, shared the features of preconditioning of donors and donor organs and the analysis of possible errors.

Cardiologist Oksana Ostrovska conducted a master class, “Ultrasound in modern anesthesiology and intensive care: analysis of clinical cases.”
Anesthesiologist David Shabanov, together with Prof. Oleg Loskutov, showed the basics of catheterization of central veins under ultrasound control and using a blind method.

The Head of the Department of Extracorporeal Treatment Methods and Anesthesiology, Ph.D. Serhiy Sudakevych and senior researcher Stepan Marunyak, Ph.D., spoke about the latest results of scientific research on extracorporeal treatment methods and conducted a master class on the basic principles of autohemotransfusion in case of blood loss.

The forum received numerous favorable reviews from the participants.
