General Director of SI Heart Institute by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Boris Todurov visited Sumy town, where he met Head of Sumy Regional State Administration Mykola Klochko, Head of Deputy Corps Semen Salatenko, deputy Oleh Boyarintsev and Volodymyr Goroch, and Head of Health Care Administration by the Regional State Administration Serhii Butenko. The main topic was an introduction of a medical program «Stop infarction». This is a social program, which provides free stenting of heart arteries for the Sumy region residents, who suffer acute myocardial infarction.

At the discussion Boris Todurov pointed, that cardiovascular diseases cause up to 67% of all mortality in Ukraine, and in Sumy region there are about a thousand infarctions diagnosed yearly, with 15% of them being fatal. Professor Todurov emphasized need for more attention to prophylaxis and timely diagnosis in this area. He shared his evidence in the introduction of «Stop infarction» program, which is intended to lower mortality and disability from cardiovascular disease rate.
