Masterclass on Ischemic Heart Disease and Atherosclerosis

On March 11, 2026, the Heart Institute hosted a masterclass on ischemic heart disease and atherosclerosis for 12 cardiologists from various healthcare institutions in Kyiv.

The program addressed the most relevant aspects of managing patients with IHD and peripheral atherosclerosis, with a focus on modern opportunities in pharmacotherapy, interventional, and surgical treatment.

Prof. Borys Todurov, General Director of the Heart Institute, presented the latest achievements of the clinic in cardiac surgery and transplantation.
Prof. Oleh Zharinov provided an in-depth analysis of the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of chronic coronary syndromes, including the criteria for revascularization procedures.
Prof. Olha Yepanchintseva demonstrated, through a clinical case, the possibilities of dyslipidemia correction in a patient with extreme cardiovascular risk.

Participants also gained valuable insights into the work of the clinical departments of cardiac rhythm disorders, endovascular surgery and angiography, as well as intensive care.

Heads of departments Oleksandr Hrytsai, Andrii Khokhlov, and Ihor Kuzmych emphasized the specific considerations in patient selection for endovascular and surgical interventions, as well as postoperative management.
