Mikhailo Zagriichuk, a leading surgeon, Head of the Kidney Transplantation and Hemodialysis Department at the Heart Institute, with his team of young talented surgeons, recently performed an extremely complex high-tech surgical intervention – performed one of the most difficult operations in surgery – pancreaticoduodenal resection (PDR or Whipple’s operation).
A young woman Yana came to us already knowing a terrible diagnosis, not so long ago she was diagnosed with a pancreatic tumor. The patient has already applied to other clinics, but given the peculiarities of the vascular anatomy and the size of the tumor, she was refused. But not at the Heart Institute!
A team of doctors operated on Yana for more than 8 hours.
They departed from the main vessels literally by a millimeter, complex reconstructions, anastomoses – everything was successful, although there were a lot of doubts and worries!
Today, Yana came home to pick up her daughter, you can’t imagine how pleased we all were! Our heroine still has a long way to fight, but given her histology, she has many, many chances to recover! So we wish her success and health!
