On November 18-19, 2021, the XIII scientific-practical online conference with international participation “Days of Arrhythmology in Kyiv” took place. The co-organizers of this registered event have traditionally been the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the National University of Health of Ukraine named after P. Shupik. The annual arrhythmological forums are intended to highlight and summarize the most important results of the year in the field of diagnostics, interventional and medical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The main target audience of the conference are cardiologists, arrhythmologists, electrophysiologists, doctors of functional diagnostics. More than 800 doctors of various specialties from all regions of Ukraine registered to participate in the conference. The scientific moderator of the forum is the Head of the Department of Functional Diagnostics, Professor Oleg Zharinov.

The conference covered the most modern aspects of interventional arrhythmology and medical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. On the first day, most attention was paid to the complex aspects of the management of patients with atrial fibrillation. In particular, aspects of basic treatment, the role of modification of traditional risk factors, screening and verification of the diagnosis of asymptomatic arrhythmias, the importance of sinus rhythm control for the prevention of cardiovascular complications, peripheral aspects of patient management were covered in detail. The second day of the forum was dedicated to the indications for the implantation of pacemakers from the standpoint of European recommendations for 2021. At the round table, the state of the problem of prevention of sudden cardiac death with the help of implanted devices in Ukraine was discussed.

Leading specialists in the field of heart rhythm and conduction disorders from the main arrhythmological centers of Ukraine took part in the scientific program of the conference, in particular, Yu. Karpenko (Odesa National Medical University), D. Volkov (Institute of General and Urgent Surgery, National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkiv), A. Yagensky (Volyn Center for Cardiovascular Pathology, Lutsk), D. Lashkul (Zaporizhzhya State Medical University), S. Fedorov (Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University), O. Hrytsai (Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine). The lecture of Professor Emin Oskan (University of Izmir, Turkey) on the prevention of sudden cardiac death in patients with heart failure attracted special attention from the audience. Specialists of the National University of Health of Ukraine took an active part in the scientific program, in particular, the Departments of Functional Diagnostics (O. Zharinov, V. Kuts, N. Lifantieva, J. Skibchyk), Cardiac Surgery, X-ray Endovascular and Extracorporeal Technologies (N. Yashchenko), Heart and Great Vessels Surgery (surgeon O. Paratsiy).
