On October 16, 2018, in the Rivne Regional Children’s Hospital, a team of specialists from the Heart Institute, Kyiv led by cardiac surgeon Vasyl Karpenko conducted a surgery on a heart of a premature baby weighing less than 1 kg. The specialists of the Institute have successfully completed the closure of the open arterial duct in a three-week-old baby whose weight at birth was only 780 grams. The baby continues to be treated at the intensive care unit of the newborns of the Rivne Regional Children’s Hospital.
