The social program – “Stop the Infarction”, which is run by the Heart Institute and municipal authorities, provides for free stenting for Kiev residents with myocardial infarction. This was stated by the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko during visiting Heart Institute.
“We are launching the project “Stop the Infarction”. Those Kiev residents, who come to the Institute by emergency with a heart attack, get all the necessary care and stenting for free. It is very important. We have just visited the ward with patients, one of them is the pensioner and the other is temporarily unemployed. It is understandable, that finding tens of thousands of UAH for stenting is impossible for many people. And when every minute counts, it is important to help quickly and save the life or ability to work. For the Kiev administration the people’s health is a priority. So we launched this program, which makes it possible to provide free stenting for those Kiev residents, who desperately need it “, – said Klitschko.
The mayor also said that the Heart Institute will be provided with the necessary number of stents till the end of the year.
This is the first such program in Ukraine. According to the words of CEO of the Heart Institute, Boris Todurov, the program is designed for 3 years and is an example of successful cooperation between the city authorities and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
