On December 1, 2017 the scientific and practical seminar “Myocardial infarction and heart failure” was held by the Department of Functional Diagnostics of the NMAPE named after P. Shupik together with the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine with the assistance of the health departments of Kiev City and Kiev Regional State Administrations and with the participation of profile departments. The moderators of the seminar were Professor Oleg Zharinov, Head of the Functional Diagnostics Department and Professor Vera Tseluyko, Head of the Chair of Cardiology and Functional Diagnostics of the Kharkov Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. More than 120 doctors-cardiologists, therapists, cardiac surgeons, resuscitators, anesthesiologists, and functional diagnostic doctors from different regions of Ukraine took part in the seminar. The annual seminar always draws so much attention of practical doctors, given the rapid evolution of approaches to diagnosis and treatment of acute coronary syndromes.
The subjects of the first meeting covered aspects of surgical, endovascular and drug treatment of myocardial infarction, post-infarction patients. Prof. Vera Tseluiko outlined the main provisions of the recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology in 2017 regarding the treatment of myocardial infarction with ST-segment elevation, and Professor Oleg Zharinov reported on the principles of use of dual antiplatelet therapy in the treatment of post-infarct patients in accordance with the European consensus of 2017.
The second session was devoted to the problems of diagnosis and treatment of heart failure. MD D. Ryabenko (NSC “Institute of Cardiology named after N. Strazhesko”) highlighted the features of modern diagnosis and treatment of myocarditis, Professor Олег Zharinov told about the principles of managing patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, and Professor L. Voronkov (NSC “Institute of Cardiology named after N. Strazhesko of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”) reported on the main news of the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure according to the results of studies published during 2017.
Within the framework of the seminar a meeting of heads of profile departments took place, within the framework of which the approaches to updating the specialization program for functional diagnostics were discussed.
