Heart Institute Team at EuroELSO 2026 in Dublin, Ireland

On 6–9 May 2026, the team of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine took part in EuroELSO 2026, held in Dublin, Ireland.

Dr. Stepan Maruniak, PhD, Head of the Department of Kidney Transplantation and Hemodialysis, together with anesthesiologists Dr. Daryna Maruniak and Dr. Valeriia Lenda, represented the Institute at one of Europe’s leading forums on ECMO and extracorporeal technologies.

Within the scientific program, Dr. Maruniak chaired the session “Cardiac Failure – ECMO and Beyond”, presented the Institute’s experience with bridge-to-heart-transplant strategies, emphasized the vital role of the perfusionist in modern catheterization laboratories, and delivered a lecture on innovative extracorporeal solutions developed under wartime conditions.

Participation in EuroELSO 2026 was not only a major professional event but also an opportunity to present Ukrainian expertise internationally, exchange knowledge with colleagues from different countries, and strengthen global collaboration in extracorporeal therapies.
