Giant Coronary-Atrial Fistula Successfully Treated at the Heart Institute

A 47-year-old woman presented to the Heart Institute complaining of general weakness, chest pain, and dizziness during physical exertion.

Diagnostic examinations revealed a rare pathology—a giant coronary-atrial fistula. The hemodynamics of this condition involve significant blood shunting from the arterial system to the venous system, resulting in coronary blood flow “theft.” The surgical team decided to close the fistula endovascularly using spiral systems. Following the successful procedure, the patient recovered and was relieved of dangerous symptoms.
