Cryoablation From Now On at the Heart Institute

Cryoablation is the modern treatment method for atrial fibrillation – from now on at the Heart Institute.
Despite the continuation of military operations on Ukraine’s territory, the Heart Institute surgeons continue to provide medical care to patients with rhythm disorders according to the highest international standards.

On November 11, 2022, a cryoablation procedure successfully treated the most common arrhythmia – atrial fibrillation.
Cryoablation is a new, progressive, safe technology that allows you to treat atrial fibrillation (atrial fibrillation).

Cryoablation procedure:
A coolant is injected through an inflatable cryoballoon to freeze tissue and block unwanted electrical activity that contributes to atrial fibrillation (AF). During the procedure, sequential isolation of the pulmonary veins is performed.

In contrast to radiofrequency ablation, the isolation of pulmonary veins with a cryoballoon takes place in one session, which allows you to obtain uniform isolation with equal borders, which provides a stable and long-term effect (low risk of recurrence of arrhythmia after the procedure).
The cryoablation procedure is well tolerated by the patient.

Cryoablation is included in the 2020 guidelines of the European Society of Cardiology for treating atrial fibrillation.
