Arrhythmology Days in Kiev

On November 15-16, 2018, the jubilee X scientific-practical conference “Arrhythmology Days in Kyiv” was held at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, which became a real holiday for cardiologists and doctors of related specialties, which are engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias of the heart. The co-organizers of this annual event were the Heart Institute and the National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P. Shupik (NMAPE). Traditionally, the idea of the conference was to increase the level of knowledge of cardiologists, functional diagnostic physicians, cardiac surgeons, doctors of related specialties with regard to modern diagnostic possibilities and interventional treatment for arrhythmias of the heart. By the number of participants, this conference was record-breaking – 435 practitioners from all regions of Ukraine registered for the two days. The scientific moderator of the conference was the head of the Department of Functional Diagnostics NMAPE  Professor Oleg Zharinov.

The peculiarity of the opening ceremony of this year’s conference was the awarding of the distinction of the All-Ukrainian Association of Specialists in Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology of the Heart “Golden Stimulator”. This distinction was awarded to Borys Kravchuk – the head of the Department of treatment of arrhythmias with X-ray surgery of the Amosov National Institute Of Cardiovascular Surgery, certified specialist of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA).

The reporters at the conference were acknowledged leaders in the field of violations of cardiac rhythm and conductivity from the leading scientific and practical centers and institutions of higher education. Special attention was paid to the contemporary aspects of electrocardiographic diagnosis of tachycardias with extensive QRS complexes and rare variants of supraventricular tachycardia, evaluation of patients with a blockage of the left leg of the His bundle, cardiac arrhythmias in patients with acute myocardial infarction, and Maze procedure for atrial fibrillation. Several scientific and practical symposiums were held within the framework of the conference, which considered the 2018’s consensus of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) on the use of new anticoagulants and antiarrhythmic therapy, as well as the implications of implantable devices in patients with cardiac arrhythmias. The new method of acoustic cardiography was featured in his report by guest Peter Bauer (Portland, USA).

Materials of the forum will be published in the journal “Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology”.
