On November 16-17, 2023, the XV Scientific and Practical Conference “Days of Arrhythmology in Kyiv” was held at the Heart Institute. The co-organizers of this event are traditionally the Heart Institute and the  Shupyk National University of Health Care of Ukraine. The annual arrhythmological forums are designed to highlight and summarize the most important achievements in the field of diagnostics, interventional and medical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The main target audience of the conference are cardiologists, arrhythmologists- electrophysiologists, functional diagnostics doctors, and therapists. The scientific moderator of the forum is the head of the Department of Functional Diagnostics, Prof. Oleg Zharinov.

The topics of the conference covered the most modern aspects of interventional arrhythmology and medical treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. The presentation of the newest methods of physiological stimulation of the ventricles, which are actively implemented in specialized arrhythmological centers in patients with bradyarrhythmias, for the treatment and prevention of heart failure, was especially interesting for the audience. In addition, attention was paid to the active implementation of cryoablation technologies in the catheter treatment of paroxysmal tachycardia in adults and children. Another recent topic of modern arrhythmology and functional diagnostics discussed in detail at the forum is the screening and treatment of asymptomatic atrial arrhythmias. The speakers also highlighted new trends in the pharmacotherapy of atrial fibrillation, extrasystole, and emergency treatment of paroxysmal tachycardia.

Leading specialists in the field of heart rhythm and conduction disorders from the main arrhythmological centers and specialized departments of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk participated in the scientific program. During the opening ceremony, Prof. Oleg Sychov (Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology, Clinical, and Regenerative Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) presented the awards of the Association of Cardiologists of Ukraine to the employees of the Heart Institute and the Department of Functional Diagnostics.

As part of the conference, a two-hour session of the International Society for Holter and Non-Invasive Electrocardiology was held with the participation of world-class experts from the USA (S. Hohnston), China (G. Tse) and Greece (V. Vassilikos, President of ISHNE, P. Delaveris).

The successful holding of the conference testifies to the active work and cohesion of arrhythmological centers in Ukraine in the implementation of the latest approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias and heart blocks, the training of specialists in electrophysiology of the heart, continuous professional development of cardiologists and doctors of related specialties. It is pleasant and important that the conference was again held face-to-face – in the comfortable conference hall of the Heart Institute. And those doctors who could not attend have the opportunity to watch the forum on the YouTube platform.
