On April 24, 2024, the Heart Institute and the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine held a workshsop “Heart failure: pharmacotherapy, interventions, cardiac surgery”. The main goal of the event was to discuss controversial aspects of managing patients with heart failure, in particular, drug therapy and indications for the use of devices, endovascular and cardiosurgical interventions. The seminar was registered by the Testing Center at the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as an event for the continuous professional development of doctors.
The event was opened with an opening speech by the General Director of the Heart Institute Prof. Borys Todurov.
The head of the Department of Functional Diagnostics, Professor Oleg Zharinov, highlighted in his problematic report the role of determining etiological factors for predicting the course, diagnosis, and treatment of heart failure, focused on the indications for revascularization in patients with ischemic cardiomyopathy, the possibilities of cardiac resynchronization therapy, the latest data on the prevention of heart failure in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
The head of the Department of Myocardial Pathology and Transplantation of Organs and Tissues of the Heart Institute, Gavrylo Kovtun, devoted his report to the treatment of terminal heart failure and the achievements of the Institute in the field of transplantology.
Doctor of the Department of Endovascular Surgery and Angiography of the Heart Institute, postgraduate student Mykola Stan spoke about the peculiarities of determining the indications for revascularization interventions in patients with heart failure and talked about the possibilities of endovascular prosthetics of the aortic valve.
Invited lecturer, Head of the Department of Age-associated Cardiometabolic Diseases of the Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology, Yana Saienko, highlighted the latest data on the relationship between heart failure and diabetes, and the features of treatment of co-morbid patients.
The event was held in the conference hall of the Heart Institute with an online broadcast. The participant highly appreciated the integrated program, good organization, and practical direction of the event, and received comprehensive answers to their questions. About 200 trainees successfully passed the test and will receive professional development certificates.
