Our specialists – Prof. Borys Todurov, Sofia Chaykovska, Serhiy Sudakevych, Igor Kuzmich, and Mykola Melnyk – are studying in leading clinics in the USA.
They began their journey in New York, where they had the honor of studying with Prof. Robert Montgomery – Director of the NYU Langone Transplant Center in New York. This clinic is a leader in lung transplantation.
6 years ago, he received a donor heart, having gone from patient to lifesaver. Who else, if not him, can better understand all the nuances and challenges of transplantology.
Prof. Robert Montgomery is a true innovator in his field. He was one of the first in the world to begin investigating the possibilities of organ transplantation from genetically modified pigs to humans. It is especially valuable for us that Prof. Montgomery sincerely loves Ukraine. Last year we had the honor of hosting him at the Heart Institute in Kyiv, and now we are studying with him in New York.
Prof. Borys Todurov told American colleagues about our experience in treating combat injuries of the heart and organizing transplant care during the war. This story touched and inspired our colleagues.
This cooperation is a huge step forward for Ukrainian transplantology. The knowledge and experience gained there will help save even more lives in Ukraine.
Ahead is a clinic in Toronto. Every day of training is new knowledge and skills that will help save even more lives in Ukraine.
We are infinitely grateful to Prof. Montgomery for his openness, willingness to share experience, and support for Ukraine. We also highly appreciate the efforts of the entire NYU Langone Health team in organizing training for our team, a warm welcome, support, and invaluable experience!
The training at Massachusetts General Hospital took place at the invitation of our compatriot, cardiac surgeon, and professor at Harvard School Serhiy Melnychuk.
Serhiy is a true master of robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. He performs complex heart and lung transplants.
Last summer, we had the honor of hosting Serhiy at the Heart Institute in Kyiv. He conducted a master class on minimally invasive cardiac surgery performing thoracoscopic mitral valve replacement. This meeting inspired us to work even harder.
We are sincerely grateful to Prof. Serhiy Melnychuk for his constant support of Ukraine and for his help in training our doctors.
