From April 23 to 26, the 13th EuroELSO 2025 Congress took place in Milan, Italy – four extremely eventful days that became a landmark event for the global community working in the field of extracorporeal life support.
Representatives of the Heart Institute, anesthesiologists Stepan Maruniak and Daryna Tkachenko, also participated in this event. In particular, Stepan Maruniak had the honor of moderating the section “ECPR challenges – unexpected survivors”, where exceptional clinical cases of survival using extracorporeal technologies after cardiac arrest were discussed – from newborns to elderly patients. In addition, during the section “Brain injury, neuromonitoring, normothermic regional perfusion (NRP)”, our team presented a report on the topic: “In-situ graft preservation technique in a limited-resource setting”, which highlights a unique approach to expanding the pool of donor hearts in conditions of limited resources.
We express our sincere gratitude to the EuroELSO team for the high level of organization and the opportunity to join the world’s leading experts and present our experience at the international level. The experience gained and new knowledge will be a significant contribution to the development of transplantology and extracorporeal technologies in Ukraine.
