On August 30, a remarkable event united the country’s cardiac surgeons – a meeting with our compatriot, Serguei Melnitchouk, a cardiac surgeon at Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston, USA).
The team of the Heart Institute – General Director Prof. Borys Todurov, Deputy Director for Cardiac Surgery Vitaly Demyanchuk, Head of the Heart Transplantation Department Gavrilo Kovtun, cardiac surgeons Sofia Chaikovska, Dmytro Loskutov – received great pleasure from such a meeting: they listened with delight and great respect to Serhiy’s story about difficult path to the top of American medicine, discussed the main problems of transplantology (Serguei Melnitchouk has considerable experience in lung and heart transplantation), practiced the technique of performing reconstructive interventions on the mitral valve.
Yet the most important thing for our team is that we met a true friend and like-minded person who shares knowledge with an open heart and soul and does everything possible to make medicine in our country reach world heights.
Thank you for the wonderful time spent, and we hope that we will have new achievements together.
