On July 6, 2020, for the first time in Ukraine at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the clinic specialists implanted a balloon-expandable prosthesis of the aortic valve to a patient with severe aortic stenosis. This type of prosthesis has not been available for implantation in Ukraine until now.
Thanks to this step, endovascular surgeries for aortic valve stenosis in Ukraine have reached the full range of necessary treatments.
The operation was performed by the Head of the Department of Endovascular Surgery and Angiography Andriy Khokhlov with a team of doctors: Oleg Zelenchuk, Mykola Stan, Yana Antonyuk, Natalia Ponych-Horobievska.
Several years ago, specialists of the Heart Institute, also for the first time in Ukraine, implanted self-expanding aortic prostheses, then it was Evolut R.
