On May 1-2, 2024, the Department of Functional Diagnostics of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine and the Heart Institute conducted training on mastering practical skills in Holter ECG monitoring for the first time. The event took place face-to-face with the participation of 11 cardiologists and functional diagnostics doctors from different regions of Ukraine. The lecturers were scientific and pedagogical workers of the Department of Functional Diagnostics, Professor Oleg Zharinov, Associate Professors Viktor Kuts and Anna Verezhnikova, Assistant Professor Nataliya Lifantiyeva, Doctor of Functional Diagnostics Nataliya Yevtushenko.
The total duration of the training was 16 hours.
The rich topics of the training mainly covered the technical aspects of the research, algorithms for processing Holter recordings using the ECG Pro monitoring system in patients with the most common arrhythmias, heart conduction disorders, and coronary artery disease, and clinical interpretation of the obtained data. Before the training, the Holter data analysis program was installed on the trainees’ personal computers. The training included the analysis of the original Holter recordings by the trainees and the making of a research conclusion.
Conducting the training was an important step in the introduction of modern formats of continuous professional development of doctors at the Department of Functional Diagnostics and at the Heart Institute. The experience gained will be used in the planning of training of other methods of functional diagnostics, in particular, echocardiography.
