The ISHLT Annual Meeting and Scientific Sessions took place at the Prague Congress Centre in Prague, Czech Republic from April 10 to 13, 2024.
For the first time, Ukraine was represented at the global congress of heart and lung transplantologists. At the congress opening, the director of the Heart Institute, Prof. Borys Todurov, delivered a 30-minute presentation on transplantation during wartime. This opening presentation garnered an extraordinary reaction from the global medical community.

Our mission was to remind the world of the challenging times our country is going through and the conditions under which medicine operates during Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine and everyone witnessed the price we pay for this. In a presented video, our youngest patient, a 6-year-old girl who received a heart transplant 8 months ago, performed a song by the band Kalush. The entire audience gave a standing ovation to our team and their work.
We save lives despite the enemy’s desire to destroy them. We share our trials and struggles with the world, seizing every opportunity.
