Conference in Moldova with Participation of Heart Institute Physicians

25-11-2025

On November 25, a conference was held at the Republican Clinical Hospital “Timofei Moșneaga” in Moldova, initiated by the National Program “Heart Transplantation.”
The Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was represented by Borys Todurov, Sofiia Chaikovska, Serhii Sudakevych, Oleksandr Romaniuk, and Maksym Rotar.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova, Nicolae Testemițanu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Transplantation Agency of Moldova, the Transplantation Agency of Romania, and international experts in cardiac surgery and transplantology.

During the conference, the Heart Institute signed a bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation in the fields of healthcare, education, and medical research. The document outlines collaboration in cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and transplantology, as well as exchange of specialists, joint research projects, and access to advanced medical technologies.

The Minister of Health of Moldova, Emil Ceban, emphasized that launching the national heart transplantation program is a strategic priority for the country. Currently, heart transplantation is not yet practiced in Moldova, while the annual need is estimated at 20–25 patients.
Experts from Moldova, Romania, Germany, and Ukraine discussed clinical, technological, and organizational aspects of heart transplantation, including program expansion, increasing donor availability, and optimizing logistics.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share our experience and work together to save lives!
