One of the important structural subdivisions of the Heart Institute is the Paediatric Unit. It differs significantly from the usual stereotypes of the medical institution which makes a pleasant and positive impression.

All necessary conditions for quality and qualified work of medical staff as well as comfortable stay of children and parents are present in the Unit. Since 2007, the Paediatric Unit offers a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for congenital malformations in newborns and children.

Employees of our unit take part in annual national, European and American scientific congresses, and are full members of professional associations of Ukraine and Europe.

The main areas of work of the Paediatric Unit:

• treatment of congenital heart defects, myocardial pathology and arrhythmias in children of different ages, including newborns and premature infants;
• providing round-the-clock emergency cardiac surgery to newborns;
• advisory assistance to children’s cardiological and neonatal departments of Kyiv and other regions;
• work with maternity hospitals: screening of newborns to detect congenital heart defects;
• dispensary observation of operated patients;
• cooperation with city’s paediatric specialists and international cooperation.
